Ruth Platt is a multifaceted creative force, boasting expertise in both writing and directing. Notably, her genre film, Martyrs Lane, has received significant support from the British Film Institute and is currently available on the popular streaming platform Shudder.
In addition to her work on Martyrs Lane, Platt's micro-budget feature, The Black Forest, made its premiere at the esteemed Edinburgh Film Festival in 2019. This notable achievement was further recognized with a nomination for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Film, a testament to Platt's growing reputation within the industry.
Prior to embarking on her career in filmmaking, Platt pursued a degree in English Literature at the prestigious University College, Oxford. She later continued her education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA),where she completed her training before leaving in her second year.
