Eddie Avedon's chance at a major film role is derailed after a car accident with Annie Benchley, a single mother, leaving him haunted by the experience. As a result, his housemate Scott Dunbar secures the coveted part instead. However, Eddie forms an unexpected bond with Annie and her daughter Taylor, a huge fan of his children's TV character Mulligan, and goes out of his way to help them, including arranging eye surgery for Annie.
