Milo Thatch, a museum worker and descendant of the renowned Thaddeus Thatch, is determined to prove the existence of Atlantis, guided by the cryptic Shepherd's journal. With no financial backing from his employer, he turns to Preston B. Whitmore, an old friend of his grandfather's, who provides him with the journal, a state-of-the-art submarine, and a skilled crew. As they venture through the Atlantic, they encounter the formidable Leviathan, a giant lobster, before finally reaching their destination. But upon arrival, Milo and his team must confront the true intentions of the Atlantis crew, where a thirst for discovery may be overshadowed by other motivations.
