Gene Autry, a singing cowboy, helps the McCracken family escape from Shag Johnson's henchmen and is subsequently hired by Pa McCracken's World-Wide Wild West Show. Gene's popularity skyrockets the show's box office, much to Johnson's dismay. When Pa McCracken is injured, Gene accepts a high-paying offer from Johnson to pay for his doctor's fees, leading Jennifer to believe he's abandoned their show. However, Gene discovers Johnson's deceit and forces him to confess, ultimately releasing himself from his contract and paying Pa's medical bill.
