The Three Mesquiteers, Stony Brooke, Rusty Joslin, and Rico, are returning from Mexico when they're stopped by Army officials investigating a silver smuggling ring. The officials suspect the Mesquiteers, but the trio soon discovers that the real culprit is Ransome, who's behind the smuggling and the murder of Don Diego, Rico's uncle.
