During World War II, a vaudeville performer named Tommy Towers is drafted and gets his girlfriend a job at a local pub. To boost morale, his commanding officer orders Tommy to entertain the troops, causing chaos and mayhem among the pub owner, his girlfriend, and the audience. Despite getting into trouble, Tommy goes AWOL and puts on a spectacular musical show that takes everyone's mind off the war's losses. As a result, Tommy receives a promotion and wins the heart of his girlfriend.
