A successful lawyer, Andrew Beckett, conceals his homosexuality and HIV diagnosis at a prestigious law firm in Philadelphia. However, his secret is discovered when a colleague notices the signs of the illness. Fired soon after, Beckett decides to take legal action against his former employer, teaming up with a lawyer named Joe Miller, who is willing to help him. They face off against one of his former employer's top lawyers, Belinda Conine, in court.
