Chandra Wilson, a native of Houston, Texas, embarked on her performing journey at the tender age of five, taking the stage with Theatre Under the Stars. She then attended the prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, before furthering her education at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she spent four years honing her craft at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Upon graduating, Wilson landed her first series regular role on ABC's Bob Patterson in 2001, playing the character Claudia Hopper. Her impressive television resume also includes numerous guest-starring and recurring roles, as well as appearances in national television commercials for Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Scope, and the United Negro College Fund, and several radio commercials.
Beyond her work in film and television, Wilson has accumulated a significant number of New York stage credits. Her standout performance as Bonna Willis in the production of "The Good Times are Killing Me" by Lynda Barry, which premiered at both the Second Stage and Minetta Lane Theatres, earned her a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance.
Some of her notable stage credits include "Paper Moon: The Musical" at the Papermill Playhouse, "The Family of Mann" by Theresa Rebeck, "Believing" for the Young Playwright's Festival, and the Broadway production of "On the Town" directed by George C. Wolfe.
