The Beaver Trilogy begins with a chance encounter in 1979 between filmmaker Trent Harris and a small-town dreamer from Beaver, Utah. The young man invites Harris to film a talent show in Beaver, where he performs in drag as Olivia Newton John. The footage captures a unique and poignant portrait of an outsider. Harris then re-enacts the scenario with Sean Penn and later Crispin Glover, creating a trilogy of films that ultimately debuted at the Lincoln Center in New York City in 2000.
