A group of alcoholics, including Kaj, a former cook, spend their days drinking on public benches and taking on odd jobs to receive welfare benefits. Their lives take an unexpected turn when a young mother, Liv, and her son, Jonas, move into the neighborhood. Kaj becomes involved in their lives, babysitting Jonas and helping with their move, and is inspired to turn his life around, including cleaning up his apartment and cooking skills.
