In the upcoming movie, Dagwood's boss entrusts him with a luxurious watch to be delivered to a bank secretary as a gift, with the intention of gaining favor with the bank president for a lucrative construction contract. However, Dagwood brings it home, intending to deliver it the next day. His wife Blondie mistakenly believes it's an anniversary gift and Dagwood, unable to break the news, lets her keep it. He then buys a cheap replacement for the secretary, but the switch is soon discovered, leading to Dagwood's termination - his 578th firing to date.
