In the City of Angels, a ruthless mercenary named Max is hired to take down an evil cult called the Oni, who are controlled by the Devil incarnate, Legion. The cult has already claimed 30 victims, and Max is motivated by the promise of a large reward. Assisted by Carmen and George, Max plans to sell an ancient book that the cult needs to open a gateway and unleash evil forces on the world. However, things go awry when the book is stolen, and both Carmen and George are possessed by demons. Max escapes possession and joins forces with a surviving Knights Templar named Cain and a Japanese ninja assassin named Ryu to take down the cult. Along the way, they receive assistance from a Buddhist priest, but ultimately, they must face Legion and the demon-possessed cult members in a final showdown.
