A military officer is dispatched to Laramie to investigate the sudden halt in railroad construction. Upon arrival, he discovers that the town is awash in drink, courtesy of an old acquaintance who's behind the operation. As tensions rise, the officer expects a confrontation, but he finds an unlikely ally in a former dance hall girl who's currently entangled with the unscrupulous bootlegger.
