Clark Kent returns to Smallville for his high school reunion, reuniting with his childhood sweetheart Lana Lang. Meanwhile, a computer programmer named Gus Gorman is hired to take over the coffee industry by wiping out the competition with a satellite system. However, Superman intervenes, leading Ross to task Gus with finding Kryptonite to eliminate the superhero. Gus mistakenly uses tar instead, causing an unusual effect on Superman.
