She was one of three sisters born in a suburban area of Auckland, New Zealand, a country renowned for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture.
She attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA),the Australian equivalent of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA),where she honed her skills in stage and television productions before making the bold move to Britain in 1976.
Her journey in the entertainment industry began on stage and television, where she showcased her talents and wit before being discovered by renowned producer John Lloyd at a dinner party.
Lloyd was so impressed by her humorous storytelling that he signed her up for the popular television show "Not the Nine O'Clock News," where she had the opportunity to work alongside the legendary comedian Billy Connolly.
During her time on the show, she also started a family, welcoming her first daughter, Daisy, in December 1983, followed by her second daughter, Amy, in July 1986. The family grew again with the arrival of her third child, Scarlett, in July 1988.
In a heartwarming display of family unity, her children from her producer husband's previous marriage also live with them, creating a loving and dynamic household.
