The band, featuring Betty Blake, prepares to open the College Club nightclub near Lambeth Technological campus. On opening night, the club's guests, including Minnie Lambeth Sparr, Professor Bailey, the sheriff, and Harriet Hale, are arrested under an old law. Harriet works to free the group, and later, Betty, Ozzie, and the band protest the college in a lively and energetic manner.
