A group of Labour activists, Paul, Maggie, and Irène, are disappointed by the party's repeated defeats to the Conservative Government in 1992. Each wants to help Labour in their own way, with Irène working for the BBC, Paul applying to the Labour press office, and Maggie volunteering for the party. As the party adapts its approach to spin its image, Paul rises through the ranks and Maggie wins a seat in the next election. But can the party balance its grassroots ideals with the harsh realities of politics?
