Cowpokes Lat Evans and Tom Ping join a cattle drive to Wyoming, where they win a fortune in a horse race and decide to stay. Evans befriends a saloon girl, Callie, but their happiness is threatened by an unscrupulous rancher, Jehu, who resents Evans. As winter sets in, the friends face hardship and eventually split. Evans is attacked by Indians, but his friend Ping saves him and takes him to a nearby town to recover. After months of recuperation, Evans sets out to start his own cattle ranch, with Callie's help and his friend Tom as his partner.
