Apache Chief Winnetou and his sister Nscho-chi are pursued by the Silers' gang after they killed several Apaches to steal their horses. They find refuge with a group of trappers led by Old Firehand, who help them evade capture. The gang heads for the border town of Miramonte, where they meet a former lover of Old Firehand, Michèle Mercier, and her son Jace, who is revealed to be Old Firehand's son. As tensions rise with the impending attack by the Silers' gang, Winnetou and Old Firehand join forces with Sergeant Mendozza to defend the town.
