Maggie, a high society Philadelphia woman, decides to audition for the Radio City Rockettes in 1958. Despite knowing she won't get in, she wants to break free from her strict parents' plans for her life, including an arranged engagement to Maxwell. She's offered a spot and concocts a lie to attend the shows in New York, pretending to prepare for her wedding. In reality, she experiences independence and camaraderie with the Rockettes, especially Sofia, Janet, and Alice, their housemother. Maggie also falls in love with John, a Navy photographer hiding his true passion for photography. However, their meeting is a matter of bad timing, and they realize there's no future for them despite their feelings.

In 1958, Maggie leaves behind her luxurious wedding plans to chase her dream of dancing in the legendary Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.
