Kenai and Koda, a bear and his young protégé, believe they don't need a girl in their lives. However, Kenai's past comes back to haunt him when he reunites with Nita, a girl he saved as a child and promised to be friends with forever. Now a beautiful woman, Nita is engaged to be married, but the ancestors disapprove of her bond with Kenai. To break the connection, Nita must journey with Kenai and Koda to the place where she received the amulet and burn it together. Along the way, Koda worries that Kenai might abandon him for Nita, while Nita must decide whether to break her bond with Kenai and marry another.
