Her friend Wally Wendell, who is being pressured to marry Constance Cook by her grandfather, is dealing with his own financial woes after a freak accident involving a taxi driver, Voltair McGuines. Meanwhile, Wally's friend Basil is facing the consequences of his actions, including being disinherited by his grandfather for his continued pursuit of Joan.
