A struggling dress designer, Joan Wood, is in debt and receives payment for her Broadway costumes in Buenos Aires, not New York. Her friend Wally Wendell, who is being pressured to marry Constance Cook by her grandfather, is dealing with his own financial woes after a freak accident involving a taxi driver, Voltair McGuines. Meanwhile, Wally's friend Basil is facing the consequences of his actions, including being disinherited by his grandfather for his continued pursuit of Joan.
