Two preteen brothers from a broken family live with their mother in a rural town. The older brother wants to move in with their father in Chicago, causing confusion and insecurity for the younger brother, who is often bullied at school. However, their lives take a magical turn when the younger brother discovers two reindeer on his way home, which he believes to be Santa's. As he tries to hide them at home, his older brother's help helps to bond them again. But when the reindeer escape and the vice-principal gets bitten, the brothers are forced to go on the run to protect their new friends, with the help of their mother's ex-boyfriend.
