Pat Keely, a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Ireland, is working as a dishwasher in a New York City pub owned by Joe O'Brian. When Joe asks Pat to make a delivery of two suitcases, Pat becomes suspicious and goes on the run to Santa Fe, using his limited funds to survive. Unbeknownst to Pat, Joe sends two thugs to retrieve the suitcases, and the FBI is following them. Pat takes a job as a mall Santa and is unaware that his destiny is unfolding.
