Screaming Eagles background

Screaming Eagles

The 101st Airborne Division's paratroopers earned their "Screaming Eagles" nickname for their bravery during the pivotal D-Day Invasion of June 1944.

A 15-man paratrooper platoon, led by Lt. Pauling, prepares for the Normandy landings. The platoon, comprising veteran soldiers and new recruits from the Merchant Marine, faces friction as they rush to complete parachute training. On the eve of the invasion, the platoon decides to celebrate with issued passes, but they're cancelled at the last minute. The soldiers head back to the barracks, sober up a drunk private, and prepare for the flight to France. After a tense journey over the English Channel, they're parachuted into Normandy, only to land 20 miles off course, right into the midst of a German battalion.
