Massie Block, the leader of a clique known as 'The Pretty Committee', is a group of privileged schoolgirls who rule their middle school and Rhode Island suburban neighborhood with an iron fist. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when a lower-middle class family with a confident daughter named Claire moves into the guest house, challenging Massie's position and threatening to shake up her world.
