Christine Adams, a restless 19-year-old, leaves her troubled past in British Columbia to join her boyfriend Eddie in Los Angeles. Unaware of her arrival, Eddie is shocked when Christine shows up, expecting to start a family immediately. However, Christine soon grows dissatisfied with her life and moves on. She's always chasing a better life, but lacks marketable skills and a sense of what a traditional job entails. Using her looks, she lands a job as a Las Vegas showgirl and has a string of relationships with various men, including a comic, a former football player, a businessman, and a rock musician. Despite her dreams of the perfect relationship, her life spirals out of control. Eventually, Christine expresses her frustration with how life has treated her.
