A former high school chemistry teacher and coach, Jim Morris, rekindles his passion for baseball and attends a professional try-out after leading his team to the championship. Despite once having his aspirations crushed by an injury, Morris surprisingly regains his pitching skills, impressing scouts with a 98 mph fastball. He signs with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and works his way up to the big leagues, playing for the team in Texas against the Rangers.
