Biography

Angus T. Jones is a former child actor from Austin, Texas, best known for his role as co-protagonist Jake Harper in the hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men" for its first 10 seasons from 2003 to 2013. He was a regular cast member for a decade, earning two Young Artist Awards for his portrayal and receiving a third nomination.

Jones made his film debut in the crime drama "Simpatico" in 1999, followed by the comedy "See Spot Run" in 2001, where he played the dog-loving boy James McGuire. His character was able to teach a trained FBI dog to relax and play like normal dogs.

In the sports drama "The Rookie" in 2002, Jones portrayed Hunter Morris, the son of professional baseball player Jim Morris, who was based on Jim Morris' real-life son. He also had a small role in the romantic comedy "Bringing Down the House" in 2003, where his character had reading difficulties, but overcame them with the help of his nanny.

Jones portrayed George Jr., the Prince of the Jungle, in the comedy film "George of the Jungle 2" in 2003, which was loosely based on the short-lived animated series of the same name. The film was released direct-to-video.

He gained his first major television role in 2003 as Jake Harper in "Two and a Half Men", playing the young son of divorced parents, jointly raised by his father Alan Harper and his uncle Charlie Harper. The sitcom enjoyed high ratings, and Jones became a household name.

By 2010, "Two and a Half Men" had become the most popular sitcom in the United States, and Jones signed a new contract, guaranteeing him 7.8 million dollars over the next two seasons. He was the highest-paid child star in television at the time.

During the show's 9th season, Jake's character was revised, depicting him as a habitual user of marijuana and involved in sexual relationships with older women. Jones expressed discomfort with these changes in his character's portrayal.

By autumn 2012, Jones had converted to Christianity and joined a Seventh-day Adventist church. He publicly criticized the sitcom as "filth" that contradicted his moral values and expressed frustration with continuing to appear in it.

Jones left the sitcom at the end of the 2012-2013 season and initially planned to make guest appearances in the 11th season, but did not participate. In 2015, he agreed to participate in the series finale, where Jake informs his father that he has married a Japanese dancer and has two stepchildren.

After leaving "Two and a Half Men", Jones started attending classes at the University of Colorado Boulder and later accepted a management position in the production company Tonite, which he co-founded with Justin Combs, a son of record producer Sean Combs.

By 2022, Jones was 29 years old, having mostly retired from acting and pursuing a business career. He has kept his private life out of the public eye, and his fame persists due to the enduring popularity of his long-running sitcom.
