US Air Force veteran Ben Brown has been charged with the murder of a prominent citizen in New Mexico. Ben's wife, Laura Mae, turned him in and claims she witnessed the murder, despite Ben signing two confessions. The trial is being held in Durango County, where Ben's wife is also charged as a co-defendant. A young widowed attorney named David Mitchell is appointed to represent Ben, despite his lack of trial experience. David believes the case is a losing situation and that the evidence is stacked against him. As he digs deeper, he discovers that the prosecution is manipulating the evidence to secure a conviction, and he must decide how to navigate the case.
