Reformed gang leader S. Lance Ingram returns to a changed Harlem after serving an eight-year prison sentence, only to find his prison-acquired technological skills useless. He takes a job delivering meals for a local food bank, where he befriends Ms. Maddy, a feisty 75-year-old woman who helps him find hope and rediscover the joys of life amidst a challenging society.
