Seven young Texans join General Hood's Texas regiment in Richmond, experiencing Southern prejudice and witnessing lynching of runaway slaves during their perilous horseback journey. Despite initial dreams of war glory, they face dangers and conflict with townsfolk. Eventually, they join the Confederate forces in Shiloh, Tennessee, only to discover that war is not what they expected, clashing with their core human values. The Battle of Shiloh marks the end of their story.
