Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost

A Sikh man, Umber Singh, leaves his homeland after India's partition in 1947, and his longing for a male heir grows stronger with the birth of his fourth daughter, leading him to challenge destiny.

In the aftermath of India's 1947 partition, Umber Singh's family is displaced from their village, leading to the birth of three consecutive girl children, much to the dismay of Umber. As they settle into a new home, Umber's wife becomes pregnant again, and he decides to raise the fourth child, also a girl, as a boy, setting off a series of complex consequences.
