A typhoon disables the crew's boat, forcing them to seek shelter in the eye of the storm. There, they stumble upon a Russian research vessel, where they find a single surviving crew member who speaks of "intelligent lightning." As they explore the ship, they discover that an alien entity has taken control of the vessel's systems, generating mechanical warriors. With their own boat destroyed, the crew must fend off the creature as the ship is pulled back into the storm.
