Keith Flippen's early life was marked by his experiences as an outcast "geek" growing up in Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1984, his family relocated to Virginia, where he discovered a newfound sense of belonging in the theatre.
To fulfill a school requirement in the fine arts, Keith initially studied acting, a decision that would ultimately lead him to a career in the performing arts. After graduating from Green Run High School, he attended Virginia Tech with the intention of becoming an Aerospace Engineer.
However, Keith's poor grades in Calculus led him to reevaluate his career aspirations. He realized that his true passion lay in acting, and he decided to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Keith's academic pursuits took him to the Eugene O'Neil Theatre Center and the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music, and Film, where he was part of a Soviet-American exchange program. It was during this time that he met his dear friend and Russian "brother" Igor Kopilov.
Following his studies, Keith began working in film, television, and theatre. He later returned to Russia in 1992 as the US Administrator of the Russian American Theatre in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Minsk. His role involved overseeing the creation, promotion, and performance of a bi-cultural Christmas program for over 40,000 children in Belarus.
Upon his return to the United States, Keith performed with Young Audiences of Virginia, bringing theatrical performances to children across the state. However, the demands of his film and television work eventually led him to give up his first love, the stage.
Keith continues to work as an actor and has also founded The Actors' Place, Inc., where he teaches Meisner Technique and Camera Acting to students from across Virginia and North Carolina.
