Wishin' and Hopin' is a wise and witty holiday tale that celebrates the past and progress. Set in 1960s Connecticut, the story follows Felix, a fifth-grader at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parochial School, whose famous cousin is Annette Funicello, a Mouseketeer and teen movie star. The arrival of substitute teacher Madame Frechette and feisty Russian student Zhenya Kabakova brings excitement and chaos to the school, teaching Felix about French kissing, cultural differences, and tableaux vivants. The story builds towards a wild and outrageous Christmas.
