Adam Robitel's impressive educational background includes graduating from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts.
His latest film, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, has recently been released, delighting fans of the franchise. His previous three films have been theatrical releases, collectively grossing 370 million dollars worldwide. Robitel is currently in pre-production on his upcoming Netflix series, The Craving, produced by Darren Aronofsky and Protozoa Pictures, where he will serve as Co-creator, Show Runner, and director.
Robitel's foray into the horror genre began with the found-footage horror thriller, The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014),which he co-wrote, directed, and produced. The film received critical acclaim, being named a "Netflix Horror Gem" by The Wrap and winning an iHorror Award for best direct release of 2014. Paramount Studios subsequently hired Robitel to rewrite Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015).
Robitel's direction of Insidious: The Last Key (2018) garnered significant attention, with the film opening to a fantastic domestic box office haul of 30 million dollars on its opening weekend and surpassing 167 million dollars worldwide, making it the most lucrative Insidious installment to date.
Robitel's latest film, Escape Room (2019),which he developed and directed for Original Films and Sony Pictures Studios, debuted at number 2 in the domestic box office, with a remarkable opening haul of 18 million dollars, more than twice its production budget. Escape Room has since grossed 156 million dollars worldwide.
Robitel's original supernatural thriller concept, Liminal, sparked a bidding war and was sold to Fox2000, with Nina Jacobson producing. Robitel will serve as executive producer, while Chris Landon will write the screenplay and direct. Additionally, Robitel has developed a gritty reinvention of the slasher genre with Cropsey, based on the infamous maniac who has haunted campers for over a century, for Peter Facinelli's A7SLE Seven Films.
