Amanda Michalka was born in Torrance, California, to Carrie Begley, a musician, and Mark Michalka, who owns a contracting company, and is proud of her diverse ancestry, which includes German, English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh heritage.
At the tender age of 9, Amanda began her journey in the world of acting, landing a lead role in a church musical production of "Jailhouse Rock", followed by a national commercial booking on her very first audition, marking the beginning of a long and successful career.
Since then, Amanda has consistently worked in the entertainment industry, appearing on numerous television shows on major networks such as CBS, FOX, HBO, ABC, WB, and NBC. Prior to becoming an actress, Amanda had a successful career as a professional model, gracing magazine covers, store posters, and other marketing materials for national corporations.
Beyond her acting and modeling pursuits, Amanda is a talented musician, singer, and published songwriter, proficient in both piano and guitar playing. She has even recorded her first CD with her sister Aly as the duo Aly & AJ, featuring a compilation of their original guitar-driven songs, which was released into the mainstream market.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys a variety of hobbies, including dance, cooking, horseback riding, mountain biking, reading, and spending quality time with her beloved puppy, Willow, as well as her family. Unfortunately, Amanda's dog Saint passed away on June 16, 2007.
