Albert Lin, a renowned National Geographic Explorer, holds a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of California, San Diego. He has successfully transformed several of his explorations into documentary series for National Geographic, seamlessly merging traditional archaeology, geology, and historical research with cutting-edge technologies like LiDAR, sonar, and computer imaging. This innovative approach has led to groundbreaking discoveries, particularly in Mayan archaeology.
Lin's first National Geographic exploration utilized non-invasive technology to locate the tomb of Genghis Khan and explore the Valley of the Khans in Mongolia. Since then, he has continued to collaborate with National Geographic on projects such as "Lost Cities with Albert Lin," "Lost Treasure of the Maya," and "Buried Secrets of the Bible with Albert Lin."
Despite facing a significant challenge in his personal life, Lin has demonstrated remarkable resilience. He lost his leg after suffering a severe injury in an off-road accident, which required amputation. Lin opted for a prosthetic replacement, but this has not hindered his participation in sports or exploration. In fact, he continues to engage in a variety of activities, including scuba diving, rock climbing, desert trekking, and hacking through dense jungle vegetation, often without his companions noticing any difference until his prosthetic leg comes into view.
Lin's determination and adaptability have enabled him to maintain his active lifestyle, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
