Aleksandr Bashirov's journey began in 1972 when he arrived in Leningrad, registered at the first Vocational School No. 57, and embarked on mastering the craft of tiling-mosaic. Following his studies, he worked at a cement plant in Vyborg, where he honed his skills in the industry. In the army, he served in the tank division, utilizing his artistic talents as a club artist, creating a portrait of Leonid Brezhnev donning a tank helmet. Upon completing his military service, Bashirov pursued his passion for film by enrolling in the directing faculty of VGIK, where he was mentored by Igor Talankin and Anatoly Vasiliev, graduating in 1989.
Bashirov's cinematic career commenced in 1986, with a role in Sergey Solovyov's film "Another's white and pockmarked". He subsequently married a US citizen and, between 1990 and 1991, studied acting at the prestigious Berghof Studio in New York, while periodically returning to the USSR to participate in film projects.
Throughout his career, Bashirov has remained an active member of the creative community, collaborating on various projects, including the "Pop Mechanics" and theatrical performances with Sergei Kuryokhin. In 1996, he founded the Deboshirfilm Studio in St. Petersburg, where he serves as artistic director and instructor of the acting and directing workshop.
In addition to his studio, Bashirov was one of the founders of the Independent Cinema Festival "Pure Dreams", which was launched in St. Petersburg in 1998. This event has since become a significant platform for showcasing innovative and avant-garde filmmaking talent.
