Alexander Von Giannini, born on June 6, 1958, in Northamptonshire, England, to an English mother and an Italian father, had a unique upbringing. His father's work with the European Commission required the family to relocate frequently, resulting in Alexander changing schools an impressive thirteen times throughout his childhood.
Before pursuing a career in acting, Alexander was the lead vocalist for the rockabilly group Coast To Coast, performing under the stage name Sandy Fontaine. The group even appeared on the popular TV show "Top of the Pops." However, it was after meeting actor Steven Berkoff that Alexander transitioned to acting, going on to train at the esteemed East 15 school in Essex.
Throughout his television career, Alexander appeared in a variety of popular series, including "The Bill" and "Inspector Morse." He also ventured into writing, penning two short films, "The Other Side of My Sleep" and "Strawberries." As a prolific stage performer, Alexander frequently took on roles in musicals, such as "Oklahoma!" and "Oh What a Lovely War."
At the time of his unexpected passing on October 2nd, 2015, Alexander was set to appear in a revival of the musical "Mack and Mabel" in Plymouth, Devon. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Secombe, daughter of the renowned actor and singer Harry Secombe, whom he married in 1998.
