Biography

Alexandria Rice, a remarkable individual of Mohawk Aboriginal Canadian descent through her parents, remains an active and proud member of the Kahnawake First Nation throughout her illustrious career. Born in Quebec, she spent the majority of her childhood in Brooklyn, New York, immersed in a community of Mohawk iron workers, where she received expert training to become a professional dancer. Little did she know that her life would take a dramatic turn when she landed a part in an educational video produced at her grammar school, thus discovering her true passion for acting. Since then, Rice has successfully navigated the world of entertainment, earning her a reputation for her outstanding performances, particularly in the role of Janet Pete. In addition to her impressive mainstream television credits, featuring guest-starring roles, Alex has also starred in several critically acclaimed independent features. Her exceptional talent has garnered her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Motion Pictures Award presented by the American Indian Film Institute for Best Actress in 2003 for her reprisal of Janet Pete in Coyote Waits, as well as the First American Award in 2005 for her work in A Thief In Time, bestowed by the First Americans in the Arts Committee.
