Alex graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2008, marking the beginning of his illustrious career. His breakthrough role came in the independent Australian feature film Wasted On The Young, which garnered significant attention at the Toronto International Film Festival and South by Southwest Film Festival.
This was followed by a string of successful films, including the US science fiction thriller Chronicle, which grossed over $126 million worldwide. The film's success paved the way for Alex to star in the 2013 re-make of the supernatural horror classic Carrie, alongside Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz.
Alex continued to impress audiences with his versatility, starring in a range of films, including Andrew Niccol's The Host, Cut Snake, and Unbroken. His performance in Unbroken, alongside Jack O'Connell and Jai Courtney, was particularly notable, as it was part of Angelina Jolie's Academy Award-nominated epic.
Most recently, Alex has starred in a variety of films, including Ivan Sen's Australian outback western Goldstone, Christian Papierniak's Izzy Gets The F*ck Across Town, Greg McLean's Jungle, Joseph Kosinski's Only The Brave, and Luke Shanahan's Rabbit.
In addition to his film work, Alex has also made a mark on television, starring as Jim Street in the CBS series SWAT. The show, which premiered in 2017, marks Alex's foray into the world of television drama.
