Alexandra Moen's life story begins in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, where her early years were shaped by her father's profession as an oceanographer. This led to a nomadic upbringing, as her family, including her mother, a teacher, and two younger brothers, followed his work to various locations, including Canada and Bermuda, before ultimately settling in England. At the tender age of six, Alexandra's family made the move to England, where she completed her schooling.

It was during this time that she made her professional stage debut in 2003 at the esteemed Chichester theatre, taking on the role of Nina in Chekhov's iconic play, 'The Seagull'.
Since then, Alexandra has worked extensively in both the theatre and television industries, with her most notable role perhaps being her appearance in the popular sci-fi series, 'Doctor Who', where she played a pivotal part in ridding the world of the Master, a formidable foe of the titular character.
