Alfonso Ribeiro was born on September 21, 1971, in the vibrant city of New York, and his family's roots can be traced back to the beautiful islands of Trinidad & Tobago. Despite some rumors suggesting otherwise, Alfonso has explicitly clarified in an interview that his family is not of Dominican descent, and they actually hail from Trinidad & Tobago.
Alfonso's journey in the entertainment industry began when he made his debut on the PBS show "Oye Ollie." His breakthrough role came when he landed the starring part in the Broadway musical "The Tap Dance Kid." This impressive performance caught the attention of the legendary Michael Jackson, who subsequently cast Alfonso in one of his iconic Pepsi commercials of the decade.
At the tender age of 10, Alfonso dabbled in music, releasing a series of singles, including "Dance Baby," "Not Too Young (To Fall In Love)," "Sneak Away With Me," and "Time Bomb." Around this time, he was cast as Ricky Schroder's best friend on the long-running series "Silver Spoons" (1982).
After the conclusion of "Silver Spoons," Alfonso attended California State University at Los Angeles, where he later landed the iconic role of Carlton Banks on the beloved series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990). When he's not acting, Alfonso is an avid race car driver and resides in Los Angeles, where he participates in celebrity car races.
