Alice Sophia Eve was born in the vibrant city of London, England, to a family of actors, her father Trevor Eve and mother Sharon Maughan, both renowned for their impressive careers in the entertainment industry. As the eldest of three siblings, Eve inherited a rich cultural heritage, boasting English, Irish, and Welsh ancestry. During her early years, her family relocated to Los Angeles, California, in an attempt to crack the American market, however, they eventually returned to the United Kingdom when Eve was just 13 years old.
Eve's educational journey was marked by a series of prestigious institutions. She initially attended a school in Chichester for a year, where her mother was appearing in a play. She then moved to Bedales School, where she first discovered her passion for acting, starring in productions of "Les Misérables" and "Twelfth Night". Eve went on to take her A-Levels at Westminster School in London, before taking a gap year to study at the renowned Beverly Hills Playhouse. She later returned to the United Kingdom to read English at St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, where she continued to hone her acting skills by appearing in various student productions, including "An Ideal Husband", "AnimalCrackers", "Scenes from an Execution", and "The Colour of Justice".
Alice Eve's early career was marked by appearances in television dramas, as well as two plays by the acclaimed director Trevor Nunn, and the play "Rock 'n' Roll" by Tom Stoppard. Her breakthrough role came in 2006 with the film "Starter for 10", alongside James McAvoy, followed by the film "Big Nothing" alongside Simon Pegg. In the same year, she starred in the British miniseries "Losing Gemma", which was filmed in India. Eve's introduction to American audiences came in 2009 with the film "Crossing Over", and she soon gained recognition for her role in the sequel "Sex and the City 2" (2010),where she played the Irish nanny of Charlotte York. Additionally, she starred as the female lead in "She's Out of My League" (2010),where her parents also played the roles of her character's parents.
