Person Biography:
As a documentary cameraman and editor for Office National du Film, also known as NFB Canada, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of renowned directors Michael Scott, Wolf Koenig, John Spotton, and Roman Kroiter. My contributions to the industry include being a cameraman on Paul Cowan's critically acclaimed documentary "Going The Distance", which received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature in 1980. Additionally, I was the cameraman and editor on Halya Kuchmij's "Strongest Man In The World", which won the Genie Award for Best Theatrical Short in 1981.
I am deeply grateful to Robert Altman for acknowledging my short film "God Is Not a Fish Inspector" in an interview with the Edmonton Journal. This recognition is a testament to the impact and relevance of my work.
As a writer and director, I have had the opportunity to adapt the works of esteemed authors into film, including Leo Tolstoy, Heinrich Böll, Governor General's Award winners Rudy Wiebe, Gabrielle Roy, and Guy Vanderhaeghe, as well as W.D. Valgardson and Alistair MacLeod. These adaptations were produced by Stan Thomas for CanWest CKND and have won over 50 awards, including accolades from the New York, San Francisco, Houston, Columbus, and Gabriel Awards.
My career has also spanned episodic television and made-for-television movies, with my work as a director dating back to 1987. Recently, I have been involved in non-fiction projects for charitable organizations, focusing on addiction and recovery, as well as disaster relief efforts following catastrophic events such as Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, and the Detroit Flood of 2014.
I am a proud member of several prestigious organizations, including the Directors Guild of America (DGA),Directors Guild of Canada (DGC),and Writers Guild of Canada (WGC).
