Amanda Kernell, a multifaceted and accomplished filmmaker, made her debut in the world of cinema by virtue of her birth in Umeå, a charming and visually stunning city nestled in the distant and breathtakingly beautiful north of Sweden, where her maternal Swedish heritage harmoniously merged with her paternal Sámi roots, thus laying the groundwork for the unique blend of cultural influences that would later shape her artistic vision.
Before embarking on her feature film odyssey, Kernell skillfully refined her craft by creating a series of exceptionally well-received short films, a remarkable feat that ultimately paved the way for her acceptance into the highly esteemed four-year film directing program at the renowned National Film School of Denmark in the year 2009, a prestigious institution that would provide her with the ideal environment to hone her skills and nurture her artistic growth.
