Andre Mayers, a renowned Canadian actor, was born in Toronto, Canada. He pursued his passion for acting after graduating from York University with a degree in Physical Education and Sociology. Mayers' determination led him to study privately in Toronto and New York with esteemed instructors Carol Rosenfeld, David Smuckler, and Susan Peretz from the Actors Studio LA.
As a prominent actor in Canada, Mayers took the stage in Tony Award-winning plays such as "FENCES," "A SOLDIER'S PLAY," and "THE TALENTED TENTH." He then transitioned to television, appearing in notable shows like "NIGHT HEAT," "DUE SOUTH," "NIGHTWATCH," and "THE PRETENDER." Mayers' film debut came in the hit comedy "SWITCHING CHANNELS," alongside Burt Reynolds and Kathleen Turner.
The early 1990s brought Mayers' breakthrough role as a series regular in the USA Network show "COUNTERSTRIKE," opposite Christopher Plummer. This success propelled him to Los Angeles, where he continued to thrive in shows like "CHARMED," "THE HANDLER," and "LAW AND ORDER L.A."
Mayers' dual passion for acting and directing led him to study filmmaking privately in LA. With 20 years of acting experience, he directed his first feature film, "THE PRINCE OF GUILT," a thought-provoking film addressing the sensitive topic of rape and wrongful accusations. The film received acclaim at the REEL WORLD FILMFESTIVAL in Toronto.
Andre's subsequent projects included directing several short films and the web series "A WEEK WITH MY FATHER," which tackled the issue of absent fathers globally. The show earned him Best Director in a Web series at the New York Independent Film and Television Festival.
Mayers remains an active member of the film and television community, teaching a Scene Study Class and private coaching to this day. In 2022, he co-produced, co-directed, and acted in the faith-based feature film "SIMON SAYS," which premiered in Los Angeles in April 2024.
In 2023, Mayers collaborated with Anna Lopes, founder of MILLION DOLLAR SMILES, to produce and direct the documentary "THE GOLDEN RIBBON," honoring the memories of children and families affected by pediatric cancers and life-threatening illnesses. The documentary was completed in the fall of 2024.
