Andrew grew up in Belmont, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, where as a teenager, he explored various creative outlets, including acting, directing, music, stage magic, and ventriloquism.
After earning his honors degree in English from Harvard University, he relocated to New York City to pursue his passions for acting and writing, taking a three-year hiatus to earn his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also taught acting for two years.
Notable performances in New York and regional theatre include his portrayal of Hercule Poirot in the sold-out run of Murder on the Orient Express at the Old Globe, the Fool in King Lear, Polonius in Hamlet, Charlie in the award-winning 30th Anniversary revival of The Foreigner, Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Jim Casy in The Grapes of Wrath, Clown (15 roles) in The 39 Steps, Vladimir in Waiting for Godot, all 35 roles in I Am My Own Wife, Bazzard in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and the enigmatic Eric Finch in the national tour of the stage version of the classic TV series Cheers.
Andrew began landing small roles in television and film in 2011. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he made his first appearance as Mr. Penn, Penguin's right-hand man, in the Season 4 premiere of Fox's hit Batman prequel drama Gotham. His performance proved so popular with fans that he became a recurring guest star, appearing in a total of 10 episodes across Seasons 4 and 5.
In his final episode of Season 5, Mr. Penn transformed into classic DC Comics villains The Ventriloquist and his murderous dummy, Scarface. In doing so, Andrew made history as the first live-action actor ever to play these canon DC characters. He performed the actual ventriloquism live on set in real-time, adding to the authenticity of the portrayal.
Other recent film and television appearances include Halston, Begin Again, Mamarosh, The Smurfs, The Blacklist, The Mysteries of Laura, The Good Fight, and HBO's Divorce. He is also an accomplished voiceover artist and audiobook narrator with a number of recordings available.
Since 2016, Andrew has been a faculty member of Western Colorado University's Graduate Program in Creative Writing as its Performance Coach. He is also an accomplished playwright and musical theatre writer, and is working on his first novel.
Andrew resides in Westchester with his husband, whom he recently celebrated 30 years with. He enjoys gardening, photography, Celtic music, and chipmunks.
